Funding TMS - Funding

There are different levels of financial help available to Tech Music School students depending on course, age, and other individual requirements.

One Year Diploma

Professional and Career Development Loans are used by many of our students to fund their courses. This is a loan offered by some of the high street banks in conjunction with the Learning and Skills Council and is specifically for vocational courses like these.

You can borrow up to £10,000.00 for course fees and living expenses. You then repay the loan in installments when the course has finished. Please call 0800 585 505 or go to www.direct.gov.uk/pcdl for an application pack or more information.

One Year CertHE/Three Year Degree

UK/EU students can apply for funding for tuition fees and living expenses whilst studying on these courses.

UK students are entitled to funding support through Student Finance England. You can find information about how to apply at: www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance

Students from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales should select the appropriate link for finance:
Northern Ireland: www.studentfinanceni.co.uk
Scotland: www.student-support-saas.gov.uk
Wales: www.studentfinancewales.co.uk

EU students can get a student loan to cover the course fees*.

* CertHE: Full Fees
* BMus (Hons) in Commercial Music Performance: Part Fees

You can find information about how to apply at: www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance (Please select “Students from other EU countries)”.

Please note that student funding for this course is not available to everyone. The most common reasons for a student not receiving funding are:

  • You do not have the required academic qualifications
  • You have already studied a qualification at Level 4 or above
  • You do not hold a passport for an EU country
  • You did not complete the application form correctly

There are also a lot of charities and trusts who you can apply to for help with funding.  Your local library will have details of them or you can do an internet search. Some are specific to the arts or music and some to the local area; it's just a matter of applying to as many as possible to maximize your chances.

We have put together a funding advice pack to give you a better understanding of what type of funding is available to you and how to apply. For your copy contact the Admissions team on +44 (0)208 749 3131.
